Back in October of 2018, I visited the town of Fayette in northeastern Iowa, which has a plethora of beautiful buildings, including this intriguing Gothic Revival house, which is the western of a pair. I dawned on me that the house was probably abandoned back then as it now.
One thing I noticed is the obvious millwork on the eaves of the house, much of which is now gone, but alludes to its former beauty..
I wrote about the Gothic Revival, and the Carpenter Gothic more specifically, at St. Louis Magazine back in December of 2016.
There is also evidence of where a porch once attached to the southwest side of the house.
